01Sustainability

Paper is the original circular material.

Waste paper is our main raw material, more than 98.9% of what we produce from is renewable, and 61% of our energy now comes from renewable sources. Here is the data — straight from our FY2025 Sustainability Statement.

Recycled paper fibres suspended in water
  • 61.0%of energy (Scope 1 + 2) from renewable sourcesAlready past the 40% target set for FY2030.
  • 46.3%lower operational emissions than FY2023On the road to net carbon neutrality by FY2050.
  • 99.9%of industrial-grade paper sales FSC-certified
  • 0work-related fatalitiesAcross 6,147,207 man-hours worked in FY2025.
  • 22,160MWh of on-site solar electricityAvoiding an estimated 12,211 tCO₂e.
  • 85.7%of procurement spent with local suppliers

02The loop

Nothing about this is linear.

Muda is integrated end to end: we collect the fibre, make the paper, turn it into board and boxes, deliver them — and collect them again.

01 — Collect

Old boxes and waste paper are gathered through collection points across Peninsular Malaysia. In FY2025 the Group used 442,365 tonnes of waste paper — 63% of everything it produced from.

03Materials

697,963 tonnes in. Almost all of it renewable.

Recycled fibre remains our primary input. Where local supply of recovered paper tightens, we work with our collection agents — and expand the network — before we import.

04Energy & emissions

Less coal. More biomass. More sun.

Boilers are the biggest source of our Scope 1 emissions. Biomass boilers at our Tasek mill — burning palm kernel shells, empty fruit bunches and wood chips — cut coal use in FY2025, and a second biomass steam boiler is due in the second half of 2026. Our natural-gas Combined Heat and Power plant and on-site solar trim the grid draw.

Water

RM30 million+ in biological treatment

Effluent from our operations is treated before discharge, in line with regulatory requirements. In FY2025 we consumed 8,625,457 m³ of water — 8.75 m³ per tonne of product.

July 2025

Fibre & waste recovery facility

Recovers usable fibre from mill sludge for reintegration into production — lowering disposal costs and the volume of waste sent to landfill.

H2 2026

Second biomass steam boiler

Fuelled by fibre from oil-palm plantations, to cut reliance on conventional fuels and bring carbon neutrality closer.

Waste

71,953 t generated, 19.7% diverted

14,181 tonnes were diverted from disposal and recycled; total waste fell 5.9% year on year.
